As both a Registered Nurse and an artist, I make abstract mixed media collages that explore where medicine meets art. I layer real medical documentation, clinical graphs, and torn literature with intuitive sweeps of acrylic and thick modeling paste to mimic the body's internal pathways and cellular structures. Instead of focusing on the clinical side of healthcare, my work is about capturing the raw energy, resilience, and deep human connection that keeps us alive.
For years, my life was defined by the strict boundaries of healthcare. As an RN, I navigated a world governed by vital signs, clinical protocols, and objective data. But as anyone who has ever stood at a patient's bedside knows, the true human story cannot be neatly contained in a medical chart. I witnessed immense vulnerability, breathtaking resilience, heartbreak, and healing up close.
Throughout my entire nursing career, art was my lifeline. It was my vital emotional outlet, my distraction from the high-stakes pressure of direct patient care, and my way of grounding myself. I spent my off-hours crafting heartfelt gifts for colleagues and as a side hustle.
Eventually, the emotional weight of my clinical experiences outgrew the boundaries of my work hours. I realized that words and medical reports weren't enough to capture the profound human spirit I was witnessing. I needed a deeper, more visceral language.
Today, I have fully transitioned into a full-time studio practice. I didn't leave medicine behind; I brought its entire history, texture, and emotion along with me. My canvas is now the convergence point where my past clinical insights meet my present creative devotion.
I don’t form literal, sterile diagrams. Instead, I create abstract landscapes of emotion. Here is how my dual worlds collide on the canvas:
The conversation doesn’t end on the substrate. I invite you to explore this unique intersection of art and healing with me.
